5 ways to boost the light of our classic

5 ways to boost the light of our classic: "
Well, yesterday we talked about extra lights , now I will continue with lighting. And Who has not wondered if there are no better for our classic bulbs with lights "cap Europe?

Those of us who love to enjoy our classic all the time, we do tours, rallies or just have it for daily use, surely we would have asked numerous times.

There has been talk of bulbs pirates, h5, illegal, changing lights, etc, but I will try to shed some light the subject.

Many times we turn to second-hand market (or new), which are sold h4 headlights for our model of vehicle, most modern versions, and accessories sold by foreign houses. It's a completely valid option, but usually expensive.

But let's start with the foundation. If we want to improve the lighting system, the first thing to do is check the wiring of our vehicle, and check that the generator or alternator, charge enough, and give an acceptable voltage (between 12.5 V. and 13.5 V) then we can check cables, terminals, etc..

and now the 5 ways to improve the light in our classic:
(Click here below "more information" if you're on the home page)

1, RELAY CELEBRITIES:

Once verified the above, it's time to see if your vehicle has the drive short and long lights is through relays. They allow us the voltage drop is lower with fewer joints, plugs and cable length between the power source and the lamp (you can see who deliver the voltage the alternator or generator to its output and see how much comes to light bulbs)

If we do not relay is the first thing we bring to you this gives the following scheme:

scheme to put relays by Krom

2 º Halogen Bulbs:

Once the installation and added sound relays can install a Phillips halogen bulbs R2 Visio. (NOTE DO NOT CONFUSE WITH THE H5) This bulb has exactly the same power (35-45w) that hoary R2 "spherical" we all know, and the same socket, so we can change without changing anything (even without as relays, and no increase in consumption).

3 º A STEP BEYOND

If we think it somewhat (never enough) we can find the famous pirates H5 bulbs, that is, H4 bulbs to which they bushing has Europe, but its power is 55/50 w. To put this type of bulb is imperative to install relays, if we want to control lights or wiring burning.

These lights are a thousand legends, which are "pirates", "illegal" bulbs do not have the ideal size for them etc. The truth is that today I have found no rules that prevent its assembly and have the case of marketed by the Phillis visio R2 for spotlights and it is exactly the same but less power. The only drawback might be true is that in certain lights, the parable could get affected by heat but the truth is that the own brands of lamps, these lamps were manufactured with two types of caps, and even commercialized adapters!

Here we can see the difference between a h5 (left) and H4 (right).

4 º H4 EUROPEAN FOCUS?

Yes! possible! After comparing the European focus of my Renault 4 with my Citroen ZX I realized that the only thing that changes is the coupling of the bulb, so I started to explore the Internet and BINGO, I found that there are adapters to put between the lighthouse and the bulb h4, but are hard to find and usually very expensive.

So I pulled again and voila two fabulous google "BRIC", both in forums bikes.
We see that bikers are more used to tinkering.

H4 The problem is you have to adapt, because apart from the pin cap is smaller diameter.

  • 1, Brico MAKING AN ADAPTER.
Starting a round bulb (preferably melted) is broken, watch crystals, pliers apretais the cap where the glass was to break the welds of the cap to stay with the outer ring of the bulb. This done, with a round file hole go over the cap to remove burrs and fine to leave it on there we enter the new halogen bulb (of which are placed in cars that have a smaller cap and three outgoing) if necessary trim any cut with pliers hacer.Ya we can introduce the new bulb from the outside in, and once placed in position holding the bulb with the system that carries the bulb holder.

I apologize to the author of brico not remember the source and I can not cite.

  • 2 º Brico: CAP FOR A CHANGE OF FARO
It is part of a European light that we remove the original cap and a cap adapted (dismantling) of a lighthouse H4.

Remove the cap "European"

top cap from h4 headlight
European cap down our beacon

Introducing the Joint lighthouse, by looking at the position of the bulb.

h4 bulb provided on the adapter.

Each lamp can be a world. In this case to ensure the cap, I'll stick with superglue or similar.
Outcome.

5 º. MODERN EXTREME
If you we want to do by day, and do not intend to break the classic aesthetics of our additional headlights (fog or long range), and applied some of BRIC previous kits on the market lights Xenon headlights h4. It is an economical but effective. I'm not aware of current legislation, but so far all carry car xenon lights, you must have self-adjusting headlights and headlight washers (which are our classics, and many of today's cars).

It is an option to consider, and will be under our own responsibility installation.

You see, the kit includes two xenon bulbs, and two metal boxes to which you need to plug the wiring of your car

Do you like it?
If you have got any further information, see errors, or simply want to say something, appreciate it.

A greeting
